- Rob Barnes Review added: 2018.04.13★ ★ ★ ★ ★After a search of care homes in Harpenden and St Albans, St Matthews has proved excellent. The staff (and management) at St Matthews makes this home a happy, kind and dignified place. Everyone regardless of their role seems to really care, and really can't do enough for those that they care for. The facilities are really good, with particular mention to the amazing garden which even includes a beach hut! Everything in the home has been carefully thought through, resulting in a safe, clean and manageable environment for those in their later years. Food is really excellent, all cooked fresh on the premises. The individual rooms are all nicely fitted and include en-suite facilities and the essential TV point. The lounge provides a great area for socialising with others, or for those quieter moments, residents can enjoy the facilities in their individual rooms. You just get the impression that this is a really well run home where the human touch remains at the forefront of what they do.
